Who Dares keeps traffic flowing during Tsunami

Friday, 28 October 2011

Even a Tsunami can't prevent Who Dares from ensuring that pedestrian and vehicular traffic flows safely around a major CDB event. In this case the Tsunami was an art installation by Janet Echelman entitled Tsunami 1.26.

The Powerhouse Museum and Art & About Sydney presented Tsunami 1.26 from 23 September - 23 October 2011, and Who Dares provided traffic planning and management services for the event.

Flying high above the heart of the city, Tsunami 1.26. was a gigantic aerial net installation by acclaimed American artist Janet Echelman. This spectacular vision is one of the works from the Powerhouse Museum’s new Love Lace exhibition, and combines ancient craft practice with cutting-edge technology to create an oasis of sculpture delicate enough to be choreographed by the wind.

Who Dares successfully planned and physically managed the traffic signalling, barricading and redirection during the month-long event, and Joanne Delzoppo from the Powerhouse Museum said she enjoyed "working with a team that just made things happen."
